comfort is key

there are a few things that i have learned about taking your own photo for a blog:
1) if you have a tripod set up, they will come. and by they, i mean e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. people who don't even live on your street will suddenly turn down it just to take a scenic drive down a quaint neighborhood. and oh boy, when they see a tripod, that car ssssslllllllooooooowwwwwwssssss down.
2) i have no idea what to do with my hands. you know that scene in talladega nights when ricky bobby is being interviewed for the first time and his hands just keep creeping up into the frame? yep. i feel something similar - i really don't know what to do with them. looking through my photos i feel like i either go "glamor hands" or i clutch something (shirt, jacket, pockets, hair...).

but moving on, today's post is brought to you by comfort in your closet.  they are called basics for a reason. nothing like a suiting up in the go-to's to help beat the humdrum that is the quintessential middle of the week sickness. usually by the time i hit wednesday i have wiped out my supply of creativity for dressing, creativity for writing, and creativity for dreams (read: workout clothes, rewriting rewriting rewriting, and nights of tossing and turning). but i am trying to stay away from my stretchy pants and stick to more public appropriate outfits (that they distinguish me from the 18 year olds on campus doesn't hurt either).

thrifted linen blazer, thrifted denim button down, h&m sweater, f21 jeans, lucky watch, uo glasses, ae clog booties (early bday present to myself) and essie wicked nail polish

see what i mean about the hair clutching in the second to last photo....?
